About TheraPaw

The goal of TheraPaw Rehabilitation and Pain Management Clinic is to help animals achieve optimal vitality and minimize pain through Integrative Movement TherapyTM, strengthening the frame and correcting neurologic and musculoskeletal imbalances for improved resiliency and quality of life at any age.

We do this through a comprehensive team assessment.

Karen Shaw Becker, DVM, identifies nutritional goals and assesses food, supplement and glandular options that may facilitate a more rapid recovery or slow progressive degeneration. She also identifies hormonal and neuroendocrine imbalances that predispose your pet to injury or prevent your pet from optimal recovery. She assesses inflammation and pain status and prescribes appropriate, dynamic support through the rehabilitation process. Dr. Becker is certified in veterinary homeopathy and is a licensed animal acupuncturist.

David Ulrich, licensed bodywork and massage therapist for pets and people, resolves muscular and structural imbalances and addresses specific muscular compensations through his Animal MyotherapyTM program. By identifying specific areas of muscle (myo) tension, pain and reduced nerve function, David’s unique techniques can improve range of motion and bio-mechanical functionality, while minimizing restrictions and compensations. Re-integration of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems can have profoundly beneficial effects on patients with acute and chronic challenges, alike.

Ashley Gibson, Certified Veterinary Technician, administers Protein Polypeptide Therapy and Physiological Regulating Medicine (PRM) to our patients during their therapy sessions.

Teri Baughman is our Certified Animal Rehabilitation Therapist. She developed her interest in animal rehab over 7 years ago after her golden retriever, Catie, sustained an injury that required therapy after surgery to maximize her ability to recover physically while minimizing her pain. Having experienced rehabilitation with Catie, Teri understands client fears. Teri is certified through Canine Rehabilitation Institute and has also received her certification in laser therapy.

Michele Johnson provides in-home care services for companion animals. In addition to running her own business, Loving Memorial Pet Care, Michele heads up TheraPaw’s in-home health evaluations. Animals with significant injuries or debilitating conditions need more frequent evaluations, but getting these pets packed up and transported for evaluation appointments in between therapy sessions can be cumbersome and stressful. Michele provides this much needed service in the comfort of your own home. She is also our Hospice Coordinator.

TheraPaw Rehabilitation and Pain Management Clinic differs from other services because we are integrative. We provide a variety of healing techniques and therapies and learn what combination works best for each patient. For example, Hydrotherapy is an important part of optimizing an animal’s range of motion and muscle tone. But Integrative Movement TherapyTM takes the average swim therapy experience to the next level.

The TheraPaw program is successful thanks to an integrative approach to healing. Integrating Therapeutic Nutrition, Hormone Optimization and Integrative Movement TherapyTM delivers synergy to the healing process; the combined effect produces superior results. Our team partners together to create protocols that produce significantly healthier animals that experience an exceptional level of improved wellbeing.
